A Kyiv resident covered himself in tar in an attempt to become invisible in the darkness while robbing a store, but his unusual disguise failed. Police spent more than five hours cleaning the man before questioning him, according to Ukrainian police.
The 26-year-old man entered the store and managed to put cigarettes, juice, sweets, fruit and wet wipes into a bag before security guards spotted him.
Bizarre Tar Disguise Fails During Store Robbery
According to police, the man had immersed himself in a barrel of tar, apparently hoping that the dark substance would help him blend into the surroundings and avoid detection during the robbery.
Security guards noticed him inside the store before he could escape. Police arrived at the scene and detained the suspect.
Police Spend More Than Five Hours Cleaning Suspect
Removing the tar proved far more difficult than catching the would-be thief. Police officers needed more than five hours to clean the man before they could question him.
Authorities used 12 liters of oil and four liters of cleaning detergent to remove the substance from the suspect.
