Men’s urine brought $21 million to a woman

The Arbitration Court of Michigan ruled that DaimlerChrysler is supposed to pay $21 million to its female attendant. Linda Gilbert proved at court that male attendants of the company were using her workplace as a toilet.

Linda Gilbert filed the suit at the end of 1999. She claimed that she could hardly stand that anymore and ran out of patience. Linda has been working at DaimlerChrysler in Detroit since 1992, she became the first woman-designer in the history of the enterprise. As she said at court, this job turned her life into a nightmare. Her male co-workers were constantly cracking jokes about that, nobody was paying attention to the results of her work. Then someone started sticking pornographic pictures to her desk, or sending them by e-mail. Linda even found the traces of urine near her desk several times. This was the last straw for the woman and she filed a lawsuit.

Her lawyer said that he had collected undeniable evidence to prove the fact of sexual importunity to Linda Gilbert. At first the lawyer was asking for the compensation of $35 million, but then the sum was cut to $21 million.

Right after the decision of the court the company issued the order to prevent from any other possible incidents in the future. A spokesman for the company said that all women employed in DaimlerChrysler system would be totally safe and protected. Linda got another appointment in another enterprise of the corporation, DaimlerChrysler paid her move.
