Kirghiz children spend holidays in Russia

Seventy children from Kirghizia are heading for the Omsk region (Russia) for their holiday as part of the project of the Russian government on support for ethnic Russians living in the CIS and the Baltic states.

This event is held every year under the auspices of the Russian governmental commission for compatriots abroad, headed by Vice Premier Valentina Matviyenko, said Nadezhda Kalinina, the first secretary of the Russian Embassy to Kirghizia.

"The Russian side assumes all expenses for the healthy rest of the schoolchildren," Kalinina stressed. Experienced teachers and psychologists will accompany children during their two-week vacation.

In 2002 not only the Slavic Foundation (the largest in the republic), but also other public associations of Russian compatriots in Kirghizia selected children from socially unprotected layers of the population, for the trip.
