Russia's sailing championship and international regatta of cruise-yachts finishes

Russian sailing championship and international regatta of cruise-yachts "Onego-2002", which took place simultaneously at Lake Onega on July 21-August 1, finished in Karelia.

Prizes were won by the Osa and the Bigl from Moscow, the Fiji from St. Petersburg and the Rezon from Severodvinsk, each one the winner in one's class, the Karelian Sports and Tourism State Committee reported on Thursday. All of them were winners of the prestigious competitions more than once.

40 vessels from 6 Russian regions, as well as Finland and the UK, took part in the racing competitions. The rest quitted the championship due to various faults. The stormy winds of Onego-2002 were particularly fierce for the smallest yachts, two of them had their masts broken. Fortunately, nobody suffered.
