Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis was put into prison yesterday for refusing to grant marriage license to same-sex couples given her religious beliefs.

The U.S. District Judge David Bunning claimed that she would be imprisoned unless she changed her mind. No exact terms were stated.

"I myself have genuinely held religious beliefs," the judge said, but "I took an oath."

"Mrs. Davis took an oath," he added. "Oaths mean things."

He also noted that the case could set a dangerous precedent.

Davis refused to issue marriage license to to Robbie Blankenship and his 20 year old partner Jesse Cruz, who drove down from Ohio.
