Michael Phelps Involved in Car Accident

Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps was not injured when the SUV he was driving collided with another car in Baltimore, but the other driver was taken to a hospital.

Police said Friday they had no updates on the woman driving the other car. She was described as "shaken up" and taken Thursday night to the hospital as a precaution.

Cindy Rivers, a spokeswoman for the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, said she could not provide any information without the woman's name, which has not been released, The Associated Press reports.

Two passengers in Phelps' Cadillac Escalade were not injured, police said. The other car was a Honda Accord, guardian.co.uk reports.

Meanwhile, Baltimore police are trying to determine whether Phelps or another driver went through a red light at a Mid-Town Belvedere intersection Thursday night.

A police official said Friday morning that officers did not give Phelps a Breathalyzer test. "There was no need," said chief department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. "He was completely coherent. He was cooperating with police. He gave a witness statement as to what occurred," The Baltimore Sun reports.
