Jennifer Lopez Celebrates 40th Birthday in Tears of Joy

Hollywood singer and actress Jennifer Lopez was left stunned after her husband Marc Anthony gave her a star-studded surprise party for celebrating her 40th birthday on Saturday evening in New York City.

Pop singer burst into tears of joy the moment she discovered her husband Marc Anthony had organized a secret bash for her 40th birthday, The Money Times reports.

The July 24 event was held at Greenwich Village's Hotel Griffou and was called "An Evening for Lola," named after Anthony's nickname for Lopez. Barricades were set up around the hotel and fans greeted Lopez as she arrived in a Bentley town car wearing what People dubbed a Grecian-inspired gown. Lopez was also recently made an honorary Miami Dolphin after hubby Anthony purchased a steak in the NFL team on July 21, HispanicBusiness.com reports.

"Jen was in an amazing mood and was just so excited about seeing all the fans [and] the marquee outside the Edison that said, 'An Evening For Lola.' She was really energized," says a source, adding: "Jennifer was the belle of the ball. She was glowing, and just radiating happiness. She really had a great time."

When it came to the party, "It was a glamorous setting, with white flowers around. Very classy. Everyone had a really good time, and it was a nice mix of her family, business associates and her friends."

As for Lopez and her husband, the source says, "They were affectionate with each other and obviously loving the night. Marc's arm was around Jennifer a lot, they'd give each other pecks on the face every now and then. She was clearly pleased with how the night went," People Magazine reports.
