Scientists from the Voronezh Technological Academy have developed a technology for the manufacture out of blood of a series of foodstuffs, including milk, yogurt, kvass, chocolate and coffee, reports the NEWSru.com site, quoting information from the academy's management.
Scientists point out that every meat-packing plant loses about 7 tons of blood daily. Now the technologists of the Voronezh Academy have found a method of utilising it.
"Trial foods made from blood do not differ in taste from ones prepared according to orthodox technology. All products manufactured from blood contain unique blood proteins, which are assimilated by the human body twice as fast as hen egg proteins," it was noted at the Academy.
Negotiations are currently under way with a number of meat-processing plants to organise the production of products enriched with blood protein.
