Moscow Kremlin museums to show "Kremlin. God's glory and tsars' grandeur" exhibition in Germany

"Kremlin. God's Glory and Tsars' Grandeur" - such is the name of the exhibition of historical rarities from the collection of the Moscow Kremlin museums which is to open in Bonn on Friday. RIA Novosti was told this by deputy director of the Moscow Kremlin state historical-cultural museum-preserve Zelfira Tregulova.

She noted that it is the first time that an exhibition of so large a scale, devoted to the Kremlin's history, is organized in Europe.

The exposition which will familiarize the Europeans both with the antiquities of the legendary Moscow state (12th century) and of the Russian empire up till its downfall (20th century) will be held in the Arts Exhibition Hall (Kunsthalle) of the Federal Republic of Germany.

This large-scale project which its organizer called "unique" includes about 300 exhibits, mainly from the collection of one of Russia's oldest museums - the Moscow Kremlin's Armory, but separate objects from the collections of Russian and European museums were added to them.

One of the world's rarest icons, the icon of Dmitry Solunsky, is one of the most important and symbolic exhibits brought from Moscow. Listed among the most valuable relics are also the full dress attire and finger cross of Peter I, the staff and the gold chain of tsar Mikhail Fyodorovich, and the Emperor's Easter egg Moscow Kremlin made by Faberge.

The exhibition is accompanied by a virtual program - the digitally reconstructed outer appearance and interiors of lost or rebuilt architectural landmarks situated on the Kremlin territory. The chronological count begins from the first days of the existence of the fortress on the Borovitsky Hill.

Tregulova stressed that "the Moscow Kremlin is a genuine phenomenon, a marked cultural-geographical notion. The eventful history of the Kremlin has turned it into a symbol of the Russian state, Orthodox faith and Russian culture. The Kunsthalle visitors will see it precisely as such."
