The Mariinsky Theatre will present its performances at the Tchaikovsky festival in Washington's Kennedy Center.
On December 16-21 the opera company, the orchestra and choir of the Mariinsky Theatre conducted by art director Valery Gergiyev will show the performances "Mazepa" and "Eugene Onegin", said the press service of the Mariinsky Theatre.
After that, on December 1 - January 4 the ballet company of the Mariinsky Theatre will join the festival. Their famous ballets, "The Nutcracker" and "The Swan Lake" will close the festival's programme.
The Tchaikovsky festival began in Washington's Kennedy Center on December 3. Its programme including works by the great Russian composer performed by musicians from different countries will end in early January.
"There should be no Russian who goes to sleep without wondering if they're going to get their throat slit in the middle of the night,” Milley said
