Russian dancers' success at IDSF Europe Cup

Two prestigious competitions the International Dance Sport Federation (IDSF) Europe Cup and the Grand Slam tournament were held as part of the Russian Dance Sport Open Championship.

The Russian duet, three-time world champions Marat Gimayev and Alina Basyuk won the IDSF Europe Cup. It took them much effort to wring victory out of Italians Paolo Bosco and Silvia Pitton.

The Russian Sport Dance Open was held for the ninth time already but this year it included the Grand Slam series to attract the world's leading dancing duets to participate in the Moscow tournament.

World champions from Germany Franco Formica and Oksana Nikiforova won the IDSF International Latin Open. Russians Denis Kuznetsov and Maria Tzaptashvili won the bronze medal.

Russians were less successful in the Grand Slam standard competition. Italians Mirko Gozzoli and Alessia Betti won first place, while Russians Maxim Kotov and Yelena Uspenskaya took the sixth.

Stages of the Grand Slam will be held in Germany, Japan, Denmark, Italy and Singapore. The finals will take place in Monaco in December.
