Russian TV series contends for Emmy award

The Brigada (Brigade) TV series which was broadcast on the Rossia channel and won high acclaim of TV viewers is now in the semi-finals of the prestigious US TV prize Emmy as one of the best TV series, according to the press service of the Rossia channel.

According to the source, the Rossia TV channel will this year host the semi-finals of the Emmy International. On June 24th, the jury will sit in Moscow to nominate the winning documentary films and on June 25th - the winning entertaining programmes.

All the programmes and series in the final will be screened at the fifth Emmy festival in New York on November 23rd, and the winners named on November 24th.

The International Television Academy, a branch of the National Television Academy of the US, awards the Emmy Prize. The International Television Academy is the largest organisation of global TV broadcasters. Representatives from over 50 countries, including Russia, make part of its board. The organisation was founded in 1969 to encourage television outside the United States, the press service reported.
