Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed decrees on the 2002 state prizes for literature and arts.
According to the Kremlin press-service, the prizes in literature were awarded to Novella Matveyeva-Bodraya for "The Jasmine" poetry collection and Vatslav Mikhalsky for "The Spring in Carthage" novel.
Film director and scriptwriter Anatoly Baluyev was awarded prize for the Bykoboi TV documentary. Prizes were also awarded to the camera crew and leads of "The Star" feature film.
Among those awarded in the music and choreography sphere are pianist Vladimir Krainev, composer Vladimir Martynov, violinist Tatyana Grindenko. Choreographer Roland Petit, and ballet-dancers Ilze Liepa (The Duchess) and Nikolai Tsiskaridze (Hermann) were awarded for the Bolshoi Theatre's Queen of Spades ballet.
Authors of Balakirev the Jester play staged in the Moscow Lenkom theatre were awarded prizes in the theatre art nomination.
