Cultural values confiscated from smugglers given to Khabarovsk museums

On Tuesday cultural values, confiscated while being smuggled from Russia, were given to museums of Khabarivsk /an administrative centre in the Far East/.

The Far Eastern Arts Museum has received a bronze Dvunadesyatye prazdniki triptych from the late 18th - early 19th centuries, a cast pectoral crucifix from the early 19th century and a Swiss Doxa pocket watch from the early 20th century, Head of the Russian Culture Ministry's regional department in Khabarovsk on preservation of cultural values Natalia Kabuzenko has reported. Some rarities have been given to the Grodekov museum of local lore. They are all of high scientific and artistic value. The good condition of the objects allows including them into the permanent exposition and temporary exhibitions at the regional museums.

According to the representative of the Culture Ministry department, "in the 6 years of its existence the department has banned to export 1,411 antique rarities of cultural values due to the experiments' results. 14 municipal museums in the Far East have been replenished with 907 antique objects.
