Russian Carrier Rocket to Place in Orbit US Telecommunication Satellite

Launching of the US telecommunications satellite, AMS-9 /G-12/, from the Baikonur cosmodrome is scheduled for May 19th, press secretary of the Russian Aviation and Space Agency, Rosaviakosmos, Sergei Gorbunov has reported.

A Russian Proton-K with the Briz-M upper-stage rocket will be used as a rocket carrier, he pointed out.

At first the satellite was due to be launched in April. However, small technical failures were discovered at the firing pad, while testing the rocket carrier and the upper-stage rocket, and the launching was postponed.
