Russian Explorer to Cross Eurasia on Bike

Pavel Konyukhov, artist and photographer, has ventured out today to cross Eurasia from the Pacific coast to Italy by bicycle.

He certainly shares Wanderlust and adventurous spirit with Fedor Konyukov, sensational Russian explorer, and his elder brother.

Pavel intends to cover more than 25,000 kilometres within seven months to make stops in major seaports - Arkhangelsk and Murmansk in European Russia's north, St. Petersburg, Odessa in Ukraine's south, and Italy's Genoa, with Bari for point of destination.

He started from Wrangel on the Russian Pacific coast in honour of the 30th foundation anniversary of its Eastern Port, one of the principal East Russian seaports.

Pavel Konyukhov has several fabulous bicycle trips to his name-he travelled all along the Arctic Ocean coast, and along the Baikal-Amur Railway. On one breathtaking occasion, the daring wanderer reached Siberia's Oimyakon, known as the world's coldest spot, at the peak of winter.
