Two Solar Discs Could Be Witnessed Over Kamchatka

On Tuesday, two solar discs, close to each other, could be witnessed over Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

As the RIA Novosti correspondent was told in the Kamchatka inter-regional territorial department for hydrometeorology and monitoring of the environment, this optical phenomenon has been caused by the reflection of the sun in the haze which was formed by a great amount of drops of water and ice in the upper layers of the atmosphere. Scientists call this phenomenon refraction of light waves.

All inhabitants of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky could witness this rare and beautiful phenomenon.
