IBM, a multinational computer technology and consulting corporation, announced on Friday its acquisition of Diligent Technologies, a world-class innovator in enterprise-class disk-based data protection solutions. The financial terms of the deal were undisclosed.
Diligent is focused on meeting the challenges of storing, protecting and managing the ever-explosive growth of backup data. It’s ProtecTIER platform is the industry’s most cost-effective and robust disk-based data protection solution on the market.
Powered by HyperFactor, a revolutionary “game-changing” inline data de-duplication technology, ProtecTIER eliminates redundant data and radically reduces the amount and cost of physical storage required. A first-of-its-kind technology, the platform provides a single instance store for backup and recovery, archive, and compliance applications.
Diligent’s acquisition reveals IBM’s planned earnings-per-share growth strategy, adding up to the company’s previous moves to acquire XIV and FilesX.
