Excessive texting indicates presence of mental illness

The American Journal of Psychiatry offers an article that may turn your perception upside-down.

According to psychologists and psychiatrists excessive texting testifies the presence and development of mental illness.

So if you text, write e-mails too much during the day it’s high time to see a doctor.

To prove the negative side of obsessive texting and its ranking as a mental illness, psychiatrists name a number of symptoms to take into consideration:

- Excessive use that leads to neglect of other daily activities;

- The feeling of depression and stress once texting is withdrawn;

- Tolerance over texting;

- Social isolation.

The problem still requires a thorough study in order not only to determine if it’s a serious deviation, but to find out how it may be treated.
