Sharon to ask president to dissolve parliament early Monday

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon will ask the president Monday to dissolve parliament and call an early election, Israel Radio reported.

Sharon is scheduled to arrive at President Moshe Katsav's house at 0700 GMT, the radio reported. A short while later, Sharon, one of the founders of the hard-line Likud Party, is expected to announce that he will be leaving the party and forming a new movement. Elections are expected to be held in March 2006, seven months early, AP reports.
