About 5,000 Israelis have sneaked into Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip in recent weeks, the Israeli army chief said Sunday, giving the highest official estimate so far.
Those sneaking in hope to reinforce Gaza settlers in resisting the removal from their homes. Hundreds of Gaza settlers have left on their own, while many other say they will remain in their settlements after the deadline for voluntary departure expires at midnight Tuesday, AP reported.
