Exposion in Dagestan, two wounded

A bomb blast went off at a police station in the Russia's troubbled Republic of Dagestan, wounding an officer and a bypasser.

The blast ripped through the structure at the entrance to a market on the outskirts of the regional capital, Makhachkala, in the early afternoon, the ministry's press service said. It said a police officer and a civilian who was passing by were hospitalized, the AP reports.

Dagestan, an ethnically mixed region adjacent to war-ravaged Chechnya, has been hit by frequent bombings and other attacks in the past year, most of them targeting police and other law enforcement authorities.
