Bulgarian president will end his Russian visit in St Petersburg

President Georgi Purvanov of Bulgaria will visit St Petersburg today within the framework of his official visit to Russia. According to the press service of the St Petersburg governor, Purvanov is to meet with Patriarch Alexy II, who is in St Petersburg these days.

President Purvanov will have meetings with Governor Valentina Matviyenko and presidential representative in the Northwestern Federal District Ilya Klebanov. His cultural programme includes a visit to the Hermitage, the Cathedral of Saviour on the Spilled Blood, and the St Catherine Palace in Pushkino.

The Bulgarian president will also lay a wreath to the monument of heroic defenders of the city during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 in Victory Square.

The trip to St Petersburg will crown the official visit of President Purvanov to Russia. He will fly home to Sofia on Thursday evening.
