State Duma speaker critical about OSCE

Boris Gryzlov, the head of the Russian delegation at the 13th session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, told journalists in Edinburgh on Monday that the OSCE now more deals with humanitarian issues.

"Today the OSCE in general and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly are not at the level of work that was founded during this organization's establishment," Gryzlov believes. He said that originally three main directions of the organization's activity were outlined: political, economic-environmental and humanitarian.

"Today we see a skew toward humanitarian issues," said the head of the Russian delegation.

On Monday, after the session of the OSCE PA Standing Committee session, Gryzlov held a 20-minute meeting with Bruce George, the President of the OSCE PA.
