T-90S, updated T-72 on view at Urals Expo

About a thousand Russian defense plants will take part in the international Russian Expo Arms-2004 to be staged in Nizhny Tagil (an industrial center of the Sverdlovsk region in the Urals) from July 6 to 10.

"A thousand applications from the Russian defense industry means the participation of almost all enterprises in this sphere," said Sverdlovsk regional governor Eduard Rossel, adding that the exhibition is to be attended by experts from 27 countries, including CIS and Baltic nations. Speaking about the peculiarities of this exhibition, he said that it will for the first time have a federal status and such a wide representation.

According to the governor, the exhibition promises a number of sensations, above all the debut of the tanks T-90S and modernized T-72.

In comparison with previous exhibitions, the scenario of the military technology show will be revised-shooting and tank runs will simulate the combat situation as closely as possible.

The Sverdlovsk governor promised that the Nizhny Tagil show will be held every two years.
