Russian frigate Nadezhda follows the route of great countrymen

The Russian sailing frigate trainer Nadezhda is arriving in Rio de Janeiro on Monday. The tour is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the first round-the-world voyage of Russian navigators Ivan Kruzenshtern and Yuri Lizyansky on board the Nadezhda and Neva vessels.

Captain of Nadezhda Vladimir Vasilenko said in a phone conversation that 166 travelers are on board the frigate. They will have an intensive program worked out by the RIA Novosti office in Brazil jointly with the federation of the sailing sport of the Rio de Janeiro state. The teachers and scientists from the Russian sailing ship will visit the marine engineering faculty of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro at the invitation of its rector where they will familiarize themselves with the educational conditions of the future Brazilian oceanologists.

Nadezhda will be open free for visitors during four out of six days of stay in Rio de Janeiro. On November 15 the frigate will leave the city.
