Russia remains on track to supply India with tanks

The Russian state-run company Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) intends to continue supplying India with tank spare parts over the next two years at least, UVZ General Director Nikolay Malykh reported at a news conference today. In accordance with a contract signed in February 2001, in 2003 UVZ shall supply India with 186 T-90C tanks. The company has also received a number of offers from India and other countries for upgrading T-72 tanks. As of now, over 1,500 T-72 tanks are adopted by the Indian Armed Forces.
