Volkov Cup draws daredevils to skies of Novgorod

This year's Vladislav Volkov Cup competition in aerobatics starts here today. As learned by Rosbalt from the tournament organizers, some 150 entrants from eight nations-Russia, US, Holland, France, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Lithuania and Belarus-will take part.

Russia will be represented by its very best- world and European champions, internationally recognized fliers and members of national teams. Ludmila Volkova, widow of Vladislav Volkov, the twice-decorated Hero of the Soviet Union cosmonaut and pilot, will be on hand for the opening ceremonies. This year's events will include the 1st CIS Aerobatics Open Championship.

The tourney runs through Friday.
