International summer school teaching Russian to CIS and Baltic children in Moscow

Between July 6th and 28th Moscow will host an international summer school teaching Russian to children from the CIS and Baltic states. The order of the Moscow government signed by Yury Luzhkov says that this measure is aimed at further development of ties between the CIS and Baltic states, strengthening of cooperation in education and support of teaching Russian in foreign educational establishments of these regions.

The summer school will invite children of titular nationalities from the CIS and Baltic counties, mostly tenth-formers. 20 students from each country as well as 40 Moscow schoolchildren will join the school, with their total number equalling 320 people.

The programme envisages an international children's festival, meetings with representatives from the Moscow government, actions devoted to the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The young guests will also go on numerous excursions and participate in cultural and sport events.
