Chief of General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces goes on an inspection trip to the Far East

Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Anatoly Kvashnin has been on an inspection trip to the Far Eastern military district and the Pacific Fleet. During his stay in Kamchatka (a peninsula in the North-East of the Asian part of Russia), he carried out joined work with the command and officers of the group of forces in the country's North-East.

Kvashnin checked the preparations for large-scale military exercises scheduled for August this year. The exercises will be held in the area of three seas: the Sea of Japan, the Sea of Okhotsk and the Bering Sea. The exercises will practice the solution of the region's main problems, including poaching, biological terrorism, the protection of oil and gas fields, and measures to cut short international drug trafficking and illegal migration.

After Kamchatka Kvashnin will visit Vladivostok, the largest Russian port on the coast of the Sea of Japan and the base of the Russian Pacific Fleet.
