Number of Internet users up 2.7% in Russia

The number of Internet users increased by 2.7 percent in Russia in April 2003 and reached 10.2 million, a statement of the research companies J'son&Partners and SpyLOG says. In particular, the number of Internet users with Internet access via a dedicated line reached about 3.5 million by the end of April. The number of users with Internet access from home computers totaled about 5.1 million while 5.1 million Russian residents access Internet from offices or public facilities. The survey revealed that about 44 percent of Russian Internet users are residents of Moscow and the surrounding region, the Izvestia newspaper reported.
