Russian Embassy to Beijing Takes Extra Measures Against Atypical Pneumonia

The Russian embassy to Beijing has taken extra measures to ensure that none of the Russians working for the trade and diplomatic missions get atypical pneumonia.

Apart from everything else, the embassy has prolonged the vacation for children at the embassy's high school and forbade senior pupils to walk around the city on their own.

Embassy and trade mission employees were advised to stay away from crowded places like markets and restaurants.

All trips to the countryside or excursions round the country must be sanctioned by embassy doctors and authorised by the ambassador and the head of the Russian trade mission to Beijing.

This is not quarantine but preventive measures to ensure that none of the Russians in Beijing get atypical pneumonia, said a source in the embassy.

As of April 19th, according to information released on Sunday, China registered 348 cases of atypical pneumonia, including 5 among foreigners. 402 people, including 4 foreigners, were hospitalised with symptoms that resembled atypical pneumonia. There were no Russians among them.
