Russian Agriculture Ministry Forecasts Increased Corn Prices and Demand Due to War in Iraq

The Russian Agriculture Ministry forecasts an increase in the corn prices and demand on the world market due to the military operation in Iraq.

"Our forecast is that the operation in Iraq, especially if it is protracted, will lead to an increase in corn prices and demand, including for Russian corn," said Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Agriculture Minister Alexei Gordeyev at a press conference in Moscow.

Political instability in the world always threatens food markets forcing governments to form strategic reserves of food, of corn first of all, he explained.
