Russian Transport Ministry: On Some Littoral States' Attempts to Limit Shipping

All issues regarding elimination of sea craft engineering data and sipping norms should not be regional, but universal, Russian Deputy Transport Minister Chingiz Izmailov said at a press conference on Thursday.

"All norms must be adopted by the sea community, primarily by the International Sea Organisation," he stressed, when giving comments on the attempts made by some littoral states including Finland, Sweden and Turkey to eliminate the rules of ships' passing through their territorial waters.

An accident in the Gulf of Finland caused discontent of the Baltic States. On March 19th, the Madredeus ship flying the flag of Malta and not designed for sailing in the ice crashed in the Gulf of Finland.
