Nizhny Novgorod Car Factory Sends 300 Volga Automobiles to Iraq

The Gorkovsky car factory GAZ is sending 300 Volga automobiles to Iraq, said GAZ General Director Alexey Barantsev in a press conference on Monday.

Barantsev said rumors that the factory is losing money because it can not send cars to Iraq because of the war are absolutely untrue, according to Rosbalt. GAZ continues to sell cars and it has contracts with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a Russian Engineering Company that produces deliveries for export.

The delivery of cars to Iraq will not be discontinued, said Barantsev. In April, GAZ plans to produce 200 Volgas, which will be sent to Iraq. In May, GAZ will increase production up to 2600 automobiles. According to its contract, which is valued at USD 44 million, GAZ must produce 5000 cars for Iraq.
