Sakhalin Hosts Planned Command-Staff Exercises to Repel Strikes from Sea

The planned command-staff exercises to repel strikes from sea began on Sakhalin (the Russian Far East).

RIA Novosti was told on Friday in the headquarters of an army unit of the Far Eastern military district deployed on the island that artillery and tank firing at the mock-ups of warships of supposed enemy had already been conducted.

Within the framework of the exercises the unfolding of a field hospital and collaboration of headquarters of various arms of the service are being practised.

Such exercises are being held twice a year.

They have nothing to do with the Iraqi events and military manoeuvres of the USA and South Korea on the Korean Peninsula, the headquarters stated.
