International Conference Timed for Leningrad Region's 75th Anniversary to Take Place Tomorrow

The conference Leningrad Region: International Cooperation and Investment - Results and Prospects, which is timed to coincide with the region's 75th anniversary, will take place tomorrow, August 1. The session will be opened by Governor of the Leningrad Region Valery Serdyukov, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Vitaly Klimov, Presidential Plenipotentiary for the North-West Federal District Victor Cherkesov, and also the Interior Ministry's representative in St. Petersburg Vladimir Lopatnikov.

Valery Serdyukov will read a paper entitled The new role of the regions under globalisation as part of a round-table discussion on international cooperation. The plenary session will be attended by Grigory Dvas, the vice-governor of the Leningrad Region, Sergei Naryshkin, the chairman of the Committee for Foreign-Economic and International Relations of the regional administration, Kauko Jamsen, the Finnish Consul General in St. Petersburg, Wang Yuhei, the vice-governor of the Chinese province of Habei, Alexander Chistoserdov, the president of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Trade and Industry, Gilbert Murray, the general director of the Ford Motor Company, and Guy Goeffers, the general director of Phillip Morris Izhora. Governor of the Kaliningrad Region Vladimir Yegorov is also expected to attend, as are representatives of the governments of Belarus, Ukraine and Tatarstan.
