Russian telecoms provided services worth $3.8bn in first half of 2002

The volume of services provided by Russian telecommunications companies in the first half of 2002 increased 10.2 percent to RUR120bn (around $3.8bn) in comparable prices from the first half of 2001, according to the Russian State Statistics Committee. The volume of telecommunications operators' services provided to legal entities rose 6.3 percent to RUR71.3bn (around $2.26bn) and to individual customers - by 17.2 percent to RUR48.7bn (around $1.54bn). In June 2002 the volume of services provided by Russian telecoms was RUR20.9bn (around $0.66bn), of which legal entities account for RUR12.6bn (around $0.4bn) (an increase of 4.1 percent as compared to the similar period of 2001). Traditional fixed-line telecommunications operators provided services worth RUR10.3bn (around $0.32bn), of which services provided to individual customers account for RUR5.1bn (around $0.16bn).
