RusAl reports revenues for first half of 2002

RusAl (Russian Aluminum) reported its revenues for the first half of 2002. They amounted to about $2bn, which was $100m less versus the corresponding period in 2001. The total volume of revenues in 2001 was about $4.1bn. In particular, the company's sales proceeds on international markets reached about $1.7bn in the first six months of this year, the RusAl press service reported.

The total volume of capital investments amounted to $170m in 2001 and the volume of credits granted to the company went up 8 percent to $1.2bn. This was non-audited financial data elaborated on according to US GAAP standards. The RusAl press service also reported the company's staff size, which reached 71,788 people in June 2002 as compared to 76,219 in November 2001.

RusAl, a producer of primary aluminum, was founded in March 2000 after the merger of several aluminum companies in the CIS. It produces 75 percent of primary aluminum in Russia and 10 percent of all primary aluminum in the world.
