Central Bank prevents further growth in dollar rate

The average-weighted dollar exchange rate amounted to 31.53 RUR/USD on this morning's session, which was RUR0.03 higher than the previous rate. The weakening of ruble at the UTS has occurred for the first time since July 17. Experts of commercial banks point out that the advance in the dollar rate could have been more considerable, if the Central Bank had not supported the national currency.

The Central Bank was selling dollars at 31.53 RUR/USD to set the average-weighted rate on the same level, the experts stress. Simultaneously with the special session the Central Bank carried out a currency intervention on the Interbank market, where it was selling dollars at 31.55 RUR/USD, the specialists specified.
