Lawsuit prevents former partisan Vasily Kononov from going to Kuzbass for medical treatment

Former Latvian red partisan Vasily Kononov cannot undergo medical treatment in Kuzbass at an invitation from Governor of the Kemerovo region (West Siberia) Aman Tuleyev in connection with his lawsuit.

The veteran thanked Tuleyev for the invitation and support, which helps him to withstand in these hard days.

The Latgale district court in Rezekne (Latvia) is reconsidering the case, initiated by the Latvian General Prosecutor's Office against Kononov. He is charged with "military crimes" for his partisan struggle against the Nazis during World War II.

The court has gone into recess, as Kononov, 79, suffering from many diseases, undergoes another medical examination
