Moscow to protect Russian-speaking population abroad

The Kremlin regards the protection of Russian compatriots abroad as its task, but comes out against their self-isolation, a source in the Russian President's administration said, commenting upon the situation in some former republics of the Soviet Union.

Meanwhile, "those, who live abroad, should determine their destiny and the destiny of their children," the source in the presidential administration noted.

According to the Kremlin source, if they are not satisfied with their staying abroad in the future, they will have a chance to return to Russia. Otherwise, they should adapt to the society and state where they live.

First of all, it concerns Latvia, a country with a large Russian-speaking community. The Kremlin source believes that they should become Latvian residents and fight for their rights if they want to live in Latvia.
