WesternGeco Performing Q-Marine 3D Survey Over Buzzard

WesternGeco reports its seismic vessel Geco Topaz is performing a Q-Marine 3D survey over the Buzzard field in the North Sea for EnCana (U.K.) Limited and partners Intrepid Energy North Sea Limited, BG Group, and Edinburgh Oil & Gas PLC. The 305-square kilometer proprietary survey is expected to become a baseline for any future seismic data acquisition over the Buzzard field.

WesternGeco has also conducted North Sea 3D/4D Q-Marine surveys over the Magnus, Murchison, Norne, and Heidrun fields. The Geco Topaz is equipped with the exclusive WesternGeco Q-Marine single-sensor technology and will deploy six streamers with a 50-meter streamer separation. "Q-Marine technology has proven the value of seismic as a critical reservoir management tool," said Leif Larsen, vice president, marine, for WesternGeco.
