Water has broken through a dam on the Protoka river. Zaboisky, a settlement in the Krasnodar Territory 90 kilometres south-west off the territorial centre of Krasnodar, is in danger of being flooded as a result.
On Monday morning water washed away 20 metres of the dam and gushed out onto the rice field, reports the Russian federal emergencies ministry.
Eleven vehicles are being engaged in the repair work at the dam. A team of local emergencies department workers and rescuers are heading for the site.
There are 3,000 residents in Zaboisky.
