UN European Commission likes work of Russia's Federal Land Cadaster Service

The United Nations European Commission for Land Management has positively assessed land-evaluation work of the Russian Federal Land Cadaster Service, its chief Sergei Sai told a RIA Novosti press conference on Friday.

To him, a recent seminar of the working group of the European Commission for Land Management noted that Russia is promptly handling matters of state control over land management and Russia's land evaluation standards are meeting the world class. Very soon the European Commission will sum up results of the seminar and prepare a protocol, which will be spread through the UN channels.

It was also noted at the press conference that the Federal Land Cadaster Service has evaluated all farmlands in the Russian Federation, which constitute 23 percent of its territory, as well as lands of the forest fund, constituting 64 percent of its territory. Work to evaluate settlements' lands /1.1 percent of the territory/ is nearing completion.

The need to bring regional land-use legislation in line with the federal laws was also noted.
