Gazprom to sell Oman gas

Gazprom is going to start selling liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Oman by the end of 2002, deputy head of the Russian gas holding Alexander Ryazanov said at the 'Liquefied Natural Gas - the Universal Fuel of the 21st Century' conference today. He pointed out that small amounts of LNG would be exported from this country. A British company, 100-percent owned by Gazprom, is planned to be involved in it.

Gazprom is currently the producer of over 20 percent of world natural gas and 94 percent of Russia's natural gas. Ryazanov stated that LNG was one of the most promising lines of the company's activities due to its economic profitability.
