World Bank discussing regional aspects of operation in Russia

The Russian President's plenipotentiary envoy to the Volga Federal District Sergei Kirienko has met the head of the World Bank Resident Representative Office in Russia Julian Schweitzer.

The meeting was held in Perm (the Urals) on Thursday as part of the forum Regional Development Strategies, the plenipotentiary's press service said to RIA Novosti.

Kirienko said that the Bank had preliminarily coordinated the strategy of work at a governmental level and was discussing regional aspects with constituent subjects of the Russian Federation.

"The World Bank representatives have come to the District, to the Perm region, for the forum which is devoted to regional development strategies," the plenipotentiary said.

The conversation with the World Bank official was very good, Kirienko stressed.

"Our understanding of the objective and of the infrastructure reform problems, first of all infrastructure of the natural monopolies and the public housing sector, as well as our starting expenses, which are due to the transitional period of reforming the infrastructure - a an effort the World Bank is ready to finance, coincide," Sergei Kirienko stated.

The Perm region can be one of the polygons and can realise these tasks while the World Bank is ready to consider a program of financing these projects, Kirienko believes.
