Russia's Prime Minister: We Have Every Resource Needed to Host EXPO-2010

While speaking in Paris at the presentation of Moscow as a candidate host of EXPO-2010 exhibition, Mikhail Kasyanov, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, said, 'Not only Russia wants to host EXPO-2010, but we also have every political and organisational resource to do so'.

According to the government's Department of Information, the Prime Minister guaranteed on behalf of Russia that 'The exhibition will be organised fully meeting the requirements of the International Bureau of Exhibitions (IBE) and the 1928 Paris Convention'. He said this exhibition would demonstrate to the international community the results of Russia's economic and democratic reforms and the country's multi-ethnic culture, history, and traditions.

The Prime Minister emphasised that for the whole time the exhibition continued, Russia's government would guarantee the most favourable customs and visas regime for its participants and guests. Russia's suggestion is to hold EXPO-2010 from May 1 through October 31. Mr. Kasyanov said, 'This time seems the most appropriate considering Russia's warm spring, moderate summer, and beautiful golden fall'.

He also said Russia's government intended to appoint a special representative who would daily control the fulfilment of every obligation of the country as concerned the organisation of the EXPO-2010 exhibition.
