Sakhalin-based oil company to crack down on oil spills

Rosneft-Sakhalinmorneftegas will allocate EUR435,000 for the creation of a new environment protection program, which will minimize the possibility of oil spills during development and transportation. Of this amount, the Japanese government granted EUR 317,000, and the oil company will provide the remaining EUR 118,000. IT Group, one of the world leaders in the development of environment-friendly technologies, was hired to prepare the program.

According to the press service of Rosneft-Sakhalinmorneftegas, the greatest part of a $90m EBRD loan to be released to the oil company will be channeled to the implementation of this program.

A delegation of IT Group specialists has already visited well sites on Northern Sakhalin, gathered preliminary data about the current situation in the local oil and gas industry and began working.
