Belarus/Iran meeting

Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Mahdi Karroubi arrived in Minsk on Wednesday for a three-day visit. Welcomed by Belarus House of Representatives Chairman Vadim Popov, he declared that Iran wished to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries.

The dossiers to discuss are regional issues, terrorism, drug trafficking and economic co-operation. During his three-day stay, the Majlis Speaker is to hold talks with the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, the Parliament Speaker, the Foreign Minister and the Prime Minister.

Iranian President Mohammad Khatami is to visit Minsk in the near future as a reciprocation of the forthcoming visit of President Lukashenko to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
